June 5 has been scheduled for Past President’s Day. Letters will go out soon. One new member, April Spano, has been approved by the Board for membership and letters will be sent to members shortly.
Past President Scott Lippert reported that tickets are being mailed to those who have reserved numbers for the cash raffle. Sales of tickets are going well, although we still have more available.
President-Elect Bernie Wilker reported on his experiences at PETS (President Elect Training). He reported that he learned a lot, had a great time and it was very motivational. A point was made at PETS that a club’s by-laws should be reviewed in light of changes made in 2007 by Rotary International. Barry Fowler said a review has been planned.
President MaryAnn Siniscalchi commented on the very successful Progressive Dinner.
The Board voted to sponsor the new Paramus AM club.
As in past years the club will donate $850 for the train ride for the 4th of July Block Party. We will also participate in the 4th of July Parade which will be held on July 3, and Club Service Director Kevin Behnke suggested we have a float. He has offered the use of a truck and a committee was formed to come up with a theme and to decorate the float. He also reported that Thursday, June 12 will be a food drive for the Paramus food pantry.We will also sponsor another bingo game at the Veterans Home in May.
Vocational Director Ken Sorenson reported that Career Day plans are progressing and the committee meets weekly. Drivers are still needed.
International Director Mary Ann Orecchio reported that Governor Joe Laureni and a committee of engineers would be in Comayauga, Honduras for a week studying the feasibility of doing the Water Project there. Also there was a delay in getting funds approved by the Walter Head Foundation for the proposed bench project. Our proposal will be brought before this committee at its April meeting.
Sergeant-at-Arms Gloria Sorenson reported that Happy Dollar donations are doing well.
Fellowship Director Lee Rickenberg reported that checks are needed for those attending Night at the Races.
The Installation Dinner will be held on Thursday, June 26th at Seasons. The transitional Board meeting for the outgoing and incoming Board will be held on Wednesday June 11 starting at 6pm at President MaryAnn’s home.
