Welcome to the Paramus Rotary Club!
Our Club of 100 members is one of 31,000 local Clubs of Rotary International located in 166 countries around the world. We do local community service projects (construct playgrounds and handicap ramps, perform food drives, blood drives, assistance to orphaned children, etc.), provide local scholarships, donate a dictionary to every third grader in Paramus in every school, public and private, and internationally save children's lives by sponsoring 3-5 children per year in third world countries who have life threatening heart conditions. The child and mother typically are hosted by our members while the child is tested and corrective surgery performed at local hospitals. It is one of the most important and gratifying things we do - give the gift of life to another who, without our help, would likely perish...
The Paramus Rotary Club has had a long tradition giving back to the local, regional?and world community and we invite you to attend one of our meetings to see first hand who we are and all the good things we do! We meet every Thursday afternoon at 12:15 PM at Seasons Catering, 644 Pascack Rd. Washington Township, NJ (201)-664-6141. Please come and join us as our guest!
What is Rotary?
Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries. Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women. The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.
The main objective of Rotary is service - in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.
The Rotary motto is Service Above Self. The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy experience and, in particular, to encourage and foster: . The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; high ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his or her occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
